In the pattern language of Alexander et alii (1977) patterns from 1 to 7 deal with regions, 8 to 34 with cities and towns, 35 to 94 with neighbourhoods, 95 to 126 with clusters of buildings, 127 to 158 with buildings, 159 to 204 with interior design, and 205 to 253 with building instructions. Of these, patterns from 8 to 126 deal with the scale of this study. Those patterns are:
